An Exclusive Interview With One Of UI's Finest Artist TWISH ALAGA

Leystradamus.Com.Ng recently had an exclusive interview with Twish Alaga, one of UI's finest artist and here is what he has to say...

Que: Kindly introduce yourself?
I am Anuoluwapo Ogundairo a.k.a Twish Alaga, 300 level student of Library and Archival Studies, University of Ibadan.

Que: What state are you from?
I am from Ogun State.

Que: How did you get the name Twish?
The best of my name which is actually my 4th name happens to be Oluwatoyin and I so much like the name so I took the 'T' at the front of the name and the fact that I have a wish to become an artist so I added a 'Wish' at the back that makes it TWISH.

Que: What else are you into apart from music?
Basically, I do just music.

Que: Thinking back to early childhood, what was your first experience with music for the first time like?  What song do you remember most as a child?
As a child, I think I grow up listening to 9ice his tradition album where we have a couple of songs then, gbamu gbamu and the rest of them.

Que: As a child growing up, music surrounds us; what type of music did you hear the most back then?  How does is differ from what you listen to now?
Music back then actually have a lot of things to teach us and the lyrical content is quite different from that of now.

Que: What was the first song that you ever sang?
That was Apex with a friend of mine called New Age from FUTA in Ondo State, and that was far back in 2012.

Que: How did it make you feel?
Looking back at the song now it looks very stupid but then it made a lot of sense to me.

Que: What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
I just have this drive whenever I sit down watching the TV screen and I watch the so called artist doing things, I just get myself sitting down grabbing a pen to do a refix of their songs.

Que: How have you been able to combine music with academics?
That have been to the glory of God, music have been taking a lot of my time but then I have always create space for my academics.

Que: What can people expect to see at your live performance?
It is a whole lot of rebranding from Twish now, so the crowd should expect something massive.

Que: If you had to describe your music in three or four words, what would you call it?
My music is a BANG.

Que: What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
I do rap music, and most of my songs are motivational.

Que: How long have you been singing?
I have been singing/writing rap down since age 11.

Que: What has been your greatest challenge so far?
It is standing out among other artists.

Que: What does your family think of your musical career and do they support you?
Everybody support my musical career.

Que: What has been your strong influence to continue performing?
My mum has always been there for, she happens to be my drive and inspiration.

Que: Does anyone in particular influence your musical talent?
If I will look up to any artist that is Eminem

Que: As an artist, how would you define SUCCESS?
Success is having people remember a part of the music, and having people reprice your type of music and even when you're not there having your music speak for you. That's success in the music industry.

Que: Do you currently have an agent/manager, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.?
I am actually signed to a record label Blue Print Entertaiment and I have a manager that the record label got for me.

Que: If you don't mind can you tell us few things about your manager?
Laughs... My manager is a graduate of University of Ibadan his name is Dotun he graduated from Economics, my manager is just the best that's all I can say about him.

Que: Have you ever had to deal with  “negative publicity” or “pushy media” people?  If so, how did you handle it?

It's simple people hate what they don't understand, so I pay a deaf ear to what people say and I try as much as possible to pick out the reasonable things.

Que: Is there anyone special you would like to thank for making your dream come true that is someone that has been motivating and someone that has always been there for you, who will that be?
That will actually be my mum and my record label

Ok, it is nice having a chat with you...
