“UI to enjoy 23hours power supply daily” – IBDEC

Engr. James Osikoya, Regional Commercial Officer, Ibadan Distribution Electricity Company (IBDEC), Oyo Region has promised non-interrupted power supply to the University of Ibadan community up to the average of 23 hours daily.

According to UCJ UI, he made this promise at a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abel I. Olayinka recently.

Engr. Osikoya said that the essence of the visit is to cement the cordial relationship that has been existing between the company and the University, adding that the company will ensure they render their service promptly.

osikoyaIn his response, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the team for the visit pointing out the importance of power to the existence of a university. “Life can be unbearable when there is no power supply”. Prof. Olayinka said.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that they will strive to maintain and strengthen the exisiting relationship. “We will maintain and strengthen the relationship between IBDEC and UI. In our little way, we will partner and collaborate with you.

“We must work together to solve this national embarrassment of power failure. We are working and researching to find an economical lasting to this problem” the VC said.

While charging IBDEC to improve the quality of their services, he added that Students can be restive when there is no power supply regardless of the cause of interruption. He however promised that the University will continue to improve on infrastructural facilities that will facilitate uninterrupted power supply.
