Co-founder of Chocolate City Records, Audu Maikori, was on Monday arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged criminal conspiracy and spreading falsehood.

The charge sheet indicated that he was also alleged to have incited disturbance of public peace.

Maikori was arraigned along with one Simon Joseph, as first and second accused.

Prosecution counsel, Dari Bayero, told the court that the duo, on January 23, 2017 conspired and spread a false story, in the social media, that five students of Kaduna State College of Education were ambushed and killed by Fulani herdsmen.

“This false information was inciting and capable of disturbing the public peace,” he alleged.

Bayero said that the offences were punishable under section 24 of Cyber Crime Act, Laws of the Federation 2015.

He, however, said that investigation was ongoing, and urged the court to give him more time to conclude the investigation and file the case to an appropriate court.

Counsel to the first accused, Mr Reuben James, urged the court to grant his client bail on the ground that the offences for which he was dragged before the court were bailable.

Similarly, counsel to the second accused, Mr Desmond Tabakwot, also urged the court to grant the second accused bail.

Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Yusuf said he lacked jurisdiction to try the case, and thereafter granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety each.

He adjourned the case to April 20, for further mention.

Some say they are not in secondary or primary school to still be receiving such punishment...lolz!

A University of Lagos lecturer has been called out by his students for reportedly asking students who couldn't spell a certain word to kneel down, and raise their hands.

According to Zeekyboy, the lecturer who rarely comes to class, allegedly spends most of his time threatening and sending students out of a class they're supposed to be in.

The incident happened during Geography class in the Faculty of Arts. Read what he wrote:
“It’s not as if this is the norm in Unilag. But this particular lecturer has been terrorizing us.
We have other lecturers who behave well, but this particular man is just something else. I mean why will you tell adults like this to kneel and raise up hands, just because they were not able to spell a particular word.
This lecturer rarely comes to class. When he comes he spends most time sending students out and threatening them. He is just a disgrace to this wonderful university. We have very brilliant, decent lectures who respects us for who we are.
We are please begging the university to help caution lecturers like this so that our great Unilag won’t be a laughing stock amongst other universities.”

But what is the WORD nau? Is it a word that even primary school kids should be able to spell?

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has acknowledged that President Muhammadu Buhari has been away from the country longer than expected.

The party’s spokeman, Bolaji Abdullahi, said this at the end of their National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, which had some Governors in attendance.

He, however, commended Buhari for transferring power to VP Yemi Osinbajo before his departure.

“The national working committee (NWC) of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by the national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on Thursday met with governors elected on the platform of the APC,” Abdullahi said.

“The national chairman reviewed the state of the party, x-raying the challenges facing the APC in relations to funding and financing.

“It was agreed that the party is not effectively funded as it should be. A new funding mechanism was therefore devised based on a planned continuous membership registration exercise across the country. The meeting agreed that this is the only sustainable way to fund the party.

“The meeting also discussed the situations in some of the state chapters of the party, and it was agreed that an effective conflict resolution mechanism will be put in place to stem the tide of internal dissension and resolve existing issues.

“As we near the midterm, the meeting also resolved to launch a project to showcase the accomplishments of APC governors in all the 24 states controlled by the party.

“The upcoming non-elective convention was also discussed and it was agreed that the convention will take place on April 29.

“The meeting acknowledged that the president, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari has been away longer than was originally envisaged. The meeting however, commended the president for following the rule of law by allowing the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to assume proper leadership and by so doing saved the country the kind of trauma that was experienced in the past”, he stated.

Buhari has been on vacation and later series of test and rest in the UK since January 19.

Bus conductors in Lagos will start wearing uniforms, tags and badges. The National President of Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria, Mr. Israel Adeshola, says so.
This new policy will take effect from March, and it is mandatory for bus conductors in the state to wear uniforms, name tags, and badges.

Adeshola who spoke on Thursday, stated that the Lagos State government has approved wearing of uniforms and badges.

He said that the use of badges and wearing of uniforms by over 3,000 bonafide members got the approval of the government on Monday.

He said, “We are in collaboration with Lagos state government on the issue of badges and uniforms for commercial conductors, which was finalised on Monday.

“This is because we don’t want to start without the government’s approval. So by the first week of March, we will roll them out.”

He explained that the introduction of uniforms, name tags and badges had become necessary to enforce decorum and ensure the safety of duly registered members and members of the public.

According to Adeshola, with the vital information on the badge, any conductor involved in a crime can easily be identified.

The national president explained that the novel idea was being experimented in Lagos state before other states can take a cue.
So our Conductors in Nigerian have national president? Odiegwu!
