Rats Actually Damaged President Buhari's Office?
When I first got this information I thought it was a joke, but surprisingly it's not. President Muhammadu Buhari, who resumed duties on Monday after a 103-day medical vacation abroad, is working from his official residence until the completion of the renovation of his office.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Shehu Garba, told THISDAY that the president’s office needed renovation because of its devastation by rodents during the president’s long period of absence.

How manage rats entered the office?

“Following the three months period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units,” he said, explaining that it was impossible for Mr President to operate from the office in that condition.

Garba, however, said this would not affect the effectiveness of Buhari’s work since the residence has an annex to the office, adding that the president had been carrying out his duties from home since he resumed.

He said he could not tell when the renovation would be completed.

Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Others To Limit Sugar Content Of Drinks In Singapore
Seven major drinks companies including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo will limit the sugar content of drinks they sell in Singapore, as part of the city-state's campaign to fight diabetes.

Singapore is one of the first countries in Asia to target sugary drinks, bringing it in line with many Western nations that have sought to mitigate the health risks associated with sugar through measures such as taxes and warning labels.

Globally, beverage firms have been reworking recipes, racing to cut sugar and introduced more options to cater to increasingly health-conscious consumers.

On Tuesday, Singapore's ministry of health said the seven firms had signed an industry pledge to remove by 2020 drinks that contain more than 12 percent sugar from their portfolios of sugar-sweetened beverages.

As well as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, the companies include F&N Foods, Malaysia Dairy Industries, Nestle, Pokka [POKKA.UL] and Yeo Hiap Seng.

New Accuser Says R. Kelly Had S3x With Her When She Was 16
After numerous allegations of sexual misconduct with minors, another young woman has come forward alleging that R. Kelly engaged in an abusive sexual relationship with her when she was underage.

Jerhonda Pace, now 24, told BuzzFeed contributor Jim DeRogatis in a report posted Tuesday that she met R. Kelly in Chicago after attending his 2008 child pornography trial in support of the singer. She was just 15 years old.

Pace, who was then Jerhonda Johnson (she is now married), says that she and the singer began an eight-month sexual relationship when she was 16.

During the relationship, Pace says that R. Kelly was both emotionally and physically abusive toward her, controlling every aspect of her life including the way she dressed, when she could use the bathroom or shower, and who she called or texted on her phone.

According to Pace, after telling R. Kelly that she was 16 in July 2009 (the age of consent in Illinois, where the relationship took place, is 17), the singer ordered her to tell people that she was actually 19.

The alleged relationship came to an end in January 2010, after R. Kelly caught Pace texting a friend without his permission.

“I was slapped and I was choked and I was spit on,” Pace told BuzzFeed.

Pace says she did not press charges against the singer because she felt that he wouldn’t get convicted, just as he hadn’t been convicted in the 2008 child pornography trial. Instead, she settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, and agreed to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

But now, Pace is breaking the agreement because she says she wants to help other women who have allegedly been “brainwashed” by R. Kelly.

“If I can speak out and I can help them get out of that situation, that’s what I will do,” Pace explained.

“I didn’t have anybody to speak up on my behalf when I was going through what I was going through with him,” she said. “I just really hope I can help these women out. Kelly needs to be stopped.”

A representative for the singer has responded to the allegations in a statement saying;

“The allegations against Mr. Kelly are false, and are being made by individuals known to be dishonest,” the statement read. “It is clear these continuing stories are the result of the effort of those with personal agendas who are working in concert to interfere with and damage his career. Mr. Kelly again denies any and all wrong doing and is taking appropriate legal action to protect himself from ongoing defamation.”

Pace’s revelations come just a month after reports that R. Kelly has been keeping several young women in a sex “cult,” keeping them from contacting their friends and family. One of the women, Jocelyn Savage, issued a video statement insisting that she is safe and has not been brainwashed despite her parents’ concerns.

Rats Damaged President Buhari’s Office Furniture While He Was In London – Shehu
President Muhammadu Buhari will work from home after rodents damaged his official office during a more than 100-day overseas medical absence, Garba Shehu says.

The animals damaged furniture and air conditioning fittings in the president’s official Abuja office while he was in London receiving treatment, he further said.

“These are also general works and it is not uncommon for Nigerian presidents to also work from the presidential villa. He has used the residential office for many years,” said Shehu.

“What is important is that the job gets done. Whether he does it from his bedroom or his sitting room or his anteroom — it does not matter. Let the job be done. And the job will be done.”

Shehu was unable to confirm what type of rodent was responsible for the damage, which occurred during the president’s prolonged absence for an undisclosed medical condition.

“I do not have that level of detail,” he said, adding that it was unclear how long the refurbishment would last.

“What Nigerians should hope for is that our president will remain whole. But if there is any reason to go out, why not? You need to first stay alive before you can lead a country.
